Part time After-School Staff

The MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation is hiring a variety of positions for our After School Enrichment Programs serving students in Kindergarten through High School.

When applying, please indicate which of the position(s) you are interested in applying for. We have the following open positions:

Program Leads
Responsible for overseeing a group of students for the duration of the program, transitioning them from arrival to their scheduled program activities and maintaining classroom management. This position must be available 2:30-6:00pm at least 3 days per week, preferably five days (Monday through Friday). Candidates for this position should have strong classroom management skills and willingness to assist with homework classes and/or conduct enrichment activities.

Elementary Tutors
Work with small groups of our K-5 Elementary students (approximately 4-6 students per group) to work on reading comprehension skills. Tutors must commit to a minimum of one day per week for one to three hours. Tutoring will be run in half hour increments during your shift. Tutoring will begin after Labor Day and continue through May 1st. Certified teachers preferred.

Elementary Homework Room Assistants
Supervise homework rooms for elementary aged students, assisting students on their homework assignments and delegating to a high school helper assigned to that room to support students with their work as needed. This position must be available at least two, and ideally four (up to five) days per week from 3:30-5:30pm.

Elementary Enrichment Instructors
Supervise enrichment activities for elementary aged students, implementing the provided curriculum which includes life skills lesson, academic games, group activities, and more. This position must be available from 3:30-5:30pm at least two days per week with opportunities up to five days per week.

Middle School & High School Tutors
This is a hybrid position that includes supervising a homework room while also providing specific support in the subjects of ELA, Math or Science to small groups of 6th-12th grade students as needed. Tutors must be available between 3:30-5:30pm one to four days per week, ideally at least two days per week. Certified teachers or working towards certification required.

  • Comfortable working with K-12 youth and adults alike, including low-income population youth

  • Commitment to youth development and the mission of MWYF

  • Flexible and calm under pressure; Excels at operating in a fast paced environment

  • Willingness to complete required trainings during first 90 days of employment

  • Meet DCF qualifications for Level 2 Background screening & pass a Drug Test
